Steps to Becoming a VIU Student

Find the program you want to take.

Check our website at pr.viu.ca/calendar/ to program link or contact the Powell River campus at 604-485-2878 to make an appointment with an advisor.

 

Apply for your Program

You will need:

You can also apply to VIU online.

There may be other documents or procedures required. Some programs require an assessment test, and most have application deadlines.

Make a copy of all the documents you submit and keep all paperwork together in a safe place.

Receive Confirmation of Acceptance from VIU

This will arrive in the form of a letter from the Admissions office. Read it carefully and keep it in a safe place. Questions? Call Admissions at 604-485-2878. If you move, please let us know your new address. 

Timetable and Register for the Courses within your Program

The Registration Centre will send you full details on how, and when to register. If you are required to choose your courses, as described in step 4, you will need to develop a timetable prior to your registration date. If you need help, please contact Registration or an advisor 604-485-2878.

Please read your information package closely to determine your date and time to register. 

Pay Tuition Deposit

A $200 tuition deposit will be required to confirm your acceptance; this deposit is applied to your tuition fees. The date by which you must pay this deposit will be sent to you with your registration materials. 

Pay the Tuition for your Courses

You will be notified when tuition fee payment is due.
